Jessica Chastain

JessicaJessica Michelle Chastain, born March 24, 1977, is an American actress. Known for primarily starring in films that have feminist themes, she has won numerous awards which include an Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award. Time magazine named her one the 100 most influential individuals across the globe in 2012. Chastain began to develop an interest in acting at an early age and made her professional stage debut in 1998 in Shakespeare's Juliet. After completing her acting studies at Juilliard School, she was offered a talent contract with John Wells. She was a frequent guest star on numerous television shows and played several roles in stage productions. Chastain made her film debut with Jolene (2008) at the age of 31. She went on to release six films in 2011 which included The Tree of Life (2011) and Take Shelter (2011). She was considered for Academy Award nominations as a character in The Help (2011), where she played an aspiring socialite. Then she appeared in Zero Dark Thirty (2012) as a CIA analyst. The science-fiction films Interstellar (2014) and The Martian (2015) were commercially more successful than the horror film It Chapter Two (2019). Chastain was acknowledged for her portrayal of strong-willed women which was evident in the dramas Most Violent Years (2014), Miss Sloane (2016) and Molly's Game (2017). She was also a part of the television miniseries Scenes from a Marriage (1921). She went on to portray Tammy Faye Bakker in the biopic The Eyes of Tammy Faye (2021) and won the Academy Award for Best Actress and Tammy Wynette in the miniseries George & Tammy (2022). Chastain has founded Freckle Films to promote diversity in film production. She is also an investor in Angel City FC. She is vocal about mental health issues, as also gender and racial equality. She is married to the fashion executive Gian Luca Passi de Preposulo who she is with
